Tension rocks the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s presidential candidate, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, allegedly obtained no primary and secondary school certificates. 

However, Tinubu insisted that he had two degrees from two American universities. Yet, he stated that the certificates were stolen by unknown soldiers during the military junta of the 1990s.

The Daily Reality gathered that the information was in an affidavit submitted by Tinubu to the INEC office as part of his eligibility filings for the 2023 presidential elections.

The documents released Friday by the electoral body showed that Tinubu completely left the columns for his primary and secondary schools unmarked.

Additionally, the latest claims by Tinubu in his submission to INEC reportedly contradicted the previous submissions of 1999 and 2003 when contested as a governorship candidate in Lagos state.

It was gathered that Tinubu allegedly claimed in 1999 and 2003 that he attended primary and secondary schools.

He indicated that he attended St. Paul Children’s Home School, Ibadan, between 1958 and 1964 and secondary school at the Government College, Ibadan, between 1965 and 1968.

The Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School is set to discipline a student for drinking water from a bottle instead of a cup provided at the Law School Dinner table. 

A query letter making round on social media, dated June 20, 2022, and signed by one Mrs Fagbemi Charity Titilayo on behalf of the Lagos Campus’ Director & Head of Academics, disclosed the development. 

“It has been reported by the Director and head of Academics on June 16 2022, that while the Law Dinner was ongoing in the Dining Hall, you were found putting a bottle of water in your mouth when a glass cup was on your table ” Part of the query letter reads. 

The query letter further demanded that the student explain that disciplinary actions should not be taken regarding the unprofessional behaviour. 

“Consequently, you are requested to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against you for violating Rule 6 (29) of the Code of Conduct of Students of Nigerian Law School on dinner etiquette and manners”, The letter reads. 

Although, at the time of fielding this report, the Nigerian Law School has yet to confirm or denounce the development. However, the Nigerian Law School is known for their strict adherence to written basic rules and etiquette. It is universally believed that good character and an uncompromising sense of decorum make a lawyer.

Lagos State’s ban on female Muslim pupils attending public schools in the state wearing the hijab was overturned by the Supreme Court on Friday.

In a 5–2 split ruling, the Supreme Court maintained the Court of Appeal, Lagos judgement from July 21, 2016, which overturned Justice Grace Onyeabo’s October 17, 2014 decision from the High Court of Lagos State.

The lead majority judge, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, dismissed the Lagos State appeal against the 2016 decision of the Court of Appeal, Lagos, because it lacked merit. 

Justice Tijani Abubakar read the lead majority judge’s decision on Friday.

Wearing the hijab in the Yoruba-dominated region, which is a mixture of Muslims and Christians, has been causing a lot of controversies.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced that 256 new people have been diagnosed with the deadly Coronavirus in the country.

The NCDC disclosed 52 new cases of the virus on their verified Facebook page on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. This brought the total number of confirmed cases within one week to 256. 

The 52 new cases were reported in Lagos, Rivers, FCT and Delta State. While Lagos tops the chart of states with most cases, others like Imo and Kano featured prominently in the reported diagnosis.

According to the NCDC report, the 52 new patients made the total number of people confirmed to be affected with the virus to 256 404, while the total number of discharged patients was put at 250,137. The number of people who were confirmed to have died due to the virus was put at 3,144. This made the fatality rate about 3% of the total confirmed cases. 

However, many Nigerians do not believe in the existence of Coronavirus, and this poses a significant challenge to the administration of vaccines. Many others believe in its existence but are sceptical of the situation being used as a conduit pipe for government officials to divert public funds.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has stated that an unidentified corpse was on Thursday discovered on the runway of Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport.

FAAN stated the remains were discovered in the night by a motorized cleaner cleared to clean the runway, according to Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, FAAN’s interim corporate relations general manager.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public of an incident in which an unidentified human remains were found on Runway 18R/36L on Thursday, May 19, 2022,” the statement said.

FAAN, therefore, announced that the runway was temporarily shut between 1:10 am and 3:43 am to allow for the immediate evacuation of the remains.

“Flight operations resumed at 0343 hours,” it added.

Investigations are ongoing as the outcome will be made public accordingly.

The police have charged four Chrisland School teachers in the Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos State.

Teachers who accompanied several Chrisland students to the World School Games in Dubai were summoned before the court on Tuesday.

After a scandal over the alleged wrongdoing of some of its students while on a trip to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Lagos State authorities ordered the closure of all Chrisland Schools branches.

In a statement issued on April 18, the government stated that all complaints were being investigated by relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, including the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Justice, and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.

After reviewing the administrative investigation into the incident, the authorities reopened the schools a week later.

The government stated that the reopening was necessary to ensure that pupils had access to learning when the new semester began on April 25.

The Lagos police command said at the time that it had launched an investigation into the case to determine the identities of the players in the video, the actual incident in the video, the geographical location of the incident, the alleged threat to life against a school student, and the circumstances surrounding the alleged repeated pregnancy tests conducted on a student without parental consent.

The police in Lagos State have confirmed being on the trail of one Ahmed for allegedly conspiring with one Uchenna Daniels to abduct his girlfriend, Hannatu Kabri.

The Daily Reality learnt that Daniels reportedly abducted Kabri in Abuja on March 31 2022.

After her abduction, Daniels took Kabri to Lagos, a catastrophic situation that put her family in a dilemma.

In an attempt to save Kabri, her parents had no option but to pay the ransom of two million naira for her release. 

The case was reported to the police, and a search was launched for the suspects, leading to Daniels’ arrest.

Addressing journalists on Thursday at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, the spokesperson for the command,  SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the police were making efforts to arrest Ahmed and one Biliya who allegedly participated in the crime.

He added, “Operatives of the command tracked and arrested the suspect, Uchenna Daniels, at Allen Avenue, Ikeja. 

“The suspect revealed that the victim’s boyfriend one Ahmed and one Biliya planned the kidnap with him and collected a ransom of N2 million in Kaduna through a Bureau de Change from the parents of the victim before she was released.

“The suspects used a toy gun to commit the crime. An investigation is ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects,” he added.

The Lagos State Government, through the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) has shut down Medville Global Health Centre located in Okota area of the state over its illegal operation and low numbers of personnel working in the hospital.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Head Public Affairs of HEFAMAA, Mr Muyideen Ayokunle Uthman on Tuesday, 5th April, 2022.

According to the statement, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Abiola Idowu, says that the Medville Global Health Centre which is located at 1, Bashiru street, off Lateef Adegboyega street, Ago Palace Way, Okota is sealed for not complying with the set standards.

Reacting to the demise of one Mr Triplem C. Mchaty’s wife, she said the agency carried out preliminary investigations which revealed that the hospital was not registered with HEFAMAA, noting that this contravened the 2006 health sector reform law.

She stated, “It means the facility was operating illegally.” She added that the hospital had inadequate personnel.

Reiterating the allegation on social media, in a tweet, one Mr Triplem C. Mchaty @scantee stressed the sad moments on his Twitter account @scantee. The tweet reads thus:

“Good morning family, I am really heartbroken now. My wife died at MEADVILLE GLOBAL HEALTH CENTRE (HOSPITAL) NO. 1 Bashiru street,off Lateef Adegboyega Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota.

“We just got married 10 months ago, she took in, she was undergoing Antenatal in Onitsha, Anambra [state].”

However, Dr Idowu disclosed that the Chairman Dr Solanke Kayo Esq. has ordered the agency to carry out a full investigation to uncover the facts of her death.

Relating with the closure of the hospital, she maintained that the agency has taken the crucial decision in furtherance of public protection awaiting the final outcome of the ongoing investigations.

She finally urged all administrators of health facilities in the state to adhere strictly to the set standards and cooperate with the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu.

Lagos State University (LASU) has urged Bella Shmurda to return to school and earn his degree. This was disclosed on the University official Twitter handle known as @LASUOfficial.

The University said this while wishing the famous singer a happy birthday on Twitter on Friday, January 28, 2022.

On his birthday, the singer, whose real name is Akinbiyi Abiola, said he did not regret his decision to leave the school and face his passion.

The University tweeted:

“@fineboybella. Glad you have come this far pursuing your dream. Also glad @LASUOfficial played a part in your beautiful story because Univ. don’t make people rich, only incubate them to find and achieve purpose. BTW, please come back to class and earn your degree♥️.”

The singer also replied in a tweet, “I now worth half a billion streams(550millions streams to be precise ) I for still Dey lasu wine and dine with carry overs and stranded with nothing, forever glad I did my thing…🌹”

Cocaine weighing 11.913kg was intercepted by the Nigeria Customs Service’s Seme Area Command, with a street value of N3,916,624,147.00.

DSC Hussaini Abdullahi, the Customs Public Relations Officer for Seme Command, confirmed this in a statement.

He added that Area Command intercepted 1,065 jerrycans of petroleum products with a Duty Paid Value of N10,041,198.00 on Wednesday.

He was quoted as saying, “This came after the Area Command initiated offensive patrol against the smuggling of petroleum products along the creeks within the Seme and Badagry.”

“The Customs Area Controller, Compt. Bello Mohammed Jibo stressed that the offensive crackdown on the activities of the petroleum products smugglers is with a mission of getting them arrested wherever they are. He reassured that the Command will continue to make life uncomfortable for the unpatriotic Nigerians trading illegal businesses in the area.

“Speaking earlier on the cocaine seizure, Jibo explained that the substance was intercepted along Seme- Badagry Expressway at about 09:00 hrs on Sunday 23 January 2022.

“Consequently, the substance was subjected to test and verification by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control and was found to be cocaine weighing 11.913kg.

“While appreciating the cooperation of sister agencies and relevant stakeholders at Seme Border, the CAC reiterated the commitment of his Officers and Men in enforcing government fiscal policies for the overall national growth and development.”
