The Anambra State Police Command disclosed that its personnel has arrested one Chisom Nwedeke, 26, accused of using charms to defraud POS operators in the state.

The Command Spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement issued on Thursday said the suspect has confessed the crime.

He stated that Nwedeke was arrested yesterday at about 9am along Amawabia, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspect said he used to cut plain white papers in the size of money and gave them to POS operators for deposit.

Tochukwu told Journalists that investigations were on top gear to arrest his other gang members.

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has awarded another set of Covid-19 vaccine champions on identifying, tracking and countering Covid-19 related false narratives, rumours, misconceptions and disinformation on social media platforms.

The program tittled “Public Education on COVID-19 Vaccine Project” was aimed at educating, informing and sensitizing people on the importance of Covid-19 vaccine with a view to counter false narratives about it.

Supported by MacArthur Foundation, the centre has been working with 18 partner organizations and social media influencers in six selected states from Northern Nigeria to enlighten the public about the vaccine through various activities and programmes.

Recalled that, Covid-19 is a communicable respiratory disease that terrorises the entire world, leading to the death of number of people and set the economies of hundreds of nations in limbo.

The details on the event was in a statement signed Wednesday, 14th September 2022, by the coordinator of the campaign, Mal. Hamza Ibrahim.

The statement reads in part: “CITAD received 93 applications from young people who want to be champions and 18 of them were selected from six northern states – Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Borno, Plateau and Kogi State and trained for two days.”

“After their training, they embarked on daily campaigns on tracking, countering and persuading people to take the vaccine. They submitted reports of their campaigns at the end of every month and the reports were shared with panel of judges who review, assess and subsequently selected the best three who are then regarded as the Covid-19 champions.”

“In this fourth round of the competition, Sumayya Abdulaziz from Kaduna emerged in the 1st position with 97 points and got Hisense refrigerator. Mundi Ilyasu from Kogi State emerged 2nd with 75 points and was rewarded with Plasma TV. From Bauchi State, Abdullahi Barau emerged in 3rd position with 70 points and went home with a mini laptop.”

Kebbi State Government has donated N100 million to the state Hisbah Committee to strengthen its activities of promoting moral values and tackling social ills.

The donation was made known by the state governor, Atiku Bagudu, at a fund raising event to mark twenty years anniversary of the committee on Sunday.

The Daily Reality reporters gathered that the committee, whose doggedness was commended by all, was hoping to raise N120 million for its service.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) acknowledged the performance of the committee.

The minister made a donation of N5 million to the Hisbah committee while the state APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr Nasir Idris, donated N500,000.

Many people who have commended Kebbi State Government believed that this gesture is worth emulating to strengthen the activity of the Hisbah in other states.

Reports from Kaduna disclosed that a pregnant woman abducted July this year has put to bed while in captivity.

The victim reportedly called on her ailing mother when bandits abducted her alongside her two sisters.

The victim’s husband, Muhammad Alabi, decried the traumatic development, adding that his wife was maltreated and severally flogged.

He stated that, “My wife gave birth at the kidnappers’ camp on 2nd August, 2022 and since then, both mother and child have not received any medical attention and to make matter worse, we learnt they were being maltreated and flogged.

“We are all dying emotionally and physically, that is why we are appealing to whoever God will use to secure their release to please help us free them.”

Recounting the family’s ordeal, father of the victims, Malam Abdulwahab Yusuf said the bandits broke into their Mando home around 1:05 am on the day of the attack.

“My two daughters used to take care of their mother who is sick, but unfortunately, that day their elder sister, who is pregnant came from her husband’s house to look after her mother when the bandits broke into the house and kidnapped my three daughters.

“They initially asked for N140 million, but now they have reduced the ransom to N50 million. The family has been adversely affected by the trauma. My wife, who was able to walk unaided before the incident, now uses wheelchair.

“We just carried out a surgery on her. I have not been myself, I cannot sleep, once it is night I don’t know how my body feels.”

Ruqayya, a woman missing in Jigawa State, has been discovered by police in the Kiyawa local government.

This was stated in a press release given to journalists and bearing the Public Relations Officer’s signature for the State Command.

According to him, the police were informed that a woman was discovered stranded on September 9, 2022, at around 1400 hours, near the Shuwarin Main flyover in the Kiyawa LGA of Jigawa State.

Following that report, police arrived quickly to take the woman into custody.

He stated that throughout the interrogation, the woman had no recollection of herself.

Reports from Lagos have disclosed that Dr Idris Salako, the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, has resigned.

At the time of filing this report, the reason for his resignation was not known as he did not mention it in a letter to the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

However, some people believed that Saloko’s resignation must not be unconnected with the recurring collapse of buildings in the state.

The Daily Really gathered several buildings have collapsed in the state, including a 21-storey building on Gérard road in Ikoyi, Ikoyi, that collapsed last year in November.

It was learned that the traumatic incidents had led to the deaths of a number of innocent souls, including the owners, as of last year November in Ikoyi.

On Sunday, 4th September 2022, the seven-storey building under construction on Oba Idowu Oniru Street, Lagos, collapsed, killing four persons and leaving four others injured.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has, however, accepted the resignation of Dr Salako.

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 38-year-old Pastor, Israel Adebayo, for allegedly raping a 14 year-old member of the choir in the church.

The Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed this Sunday, said another pastor had been caught in the act of alleged rape.

Oyeyemi said another 48-year-old pastor, Michael Abiodun, was also arrested Friday for allegedly defiling and impregnated a 12-year-old member of his church at Owode Egba in Obafemi-Owode LGA.

He added that the pastor is tue General Overseer of “The Beloved Chapel” situated at No. 9, Iyaniwura street, off Owonikoko street Agbado area of Ogun state.

However, the mother of the victim stated that while she was away from home for treatment of an ailment, her daughter went to the church.

She added that, “But she ‘fell’ into the hands of the Pastor who lured her into his room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.”

Oyeyemi told journalists that, “On interrogation, the Pastor who admitted defiling the victim pleaded for forgiveness. According to him, his family and that of the victim are so close, but he didn’t know how and why such thing happened to him.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect would have been arrested long ago, but the mother of the victim frustrated the move because she doesn’t want to offend her Pastor.

“But when the victim continued bleeding from her private part since the incident which happened October 2021, she was left with no other option than to allow Police come into the matter,” he said.

Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has urged the state gubernatorial candidates to put their differences aside and work towards the development of Kano.

Gawuna, who is the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), said the interest of the state should supercede any individual’s ambition.

This, however, was disclosed in a statement signed Sunday, 4th September, 2022 by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Hassan Musa Fagge.

The statement disclosed that Gawuna made the charge during a ‘One Day Colloquium for Kano and Jigawa States Candidates’ across political parties contesting for various elective offices in the 2023 general elections.

The event was organised by the Kano-Jigawa Professionals Forum (KJPF) held at the Aminu Kano Center for Democratic Research, Mambayya House.

The statement reads: “As stakeholders it is our duty to enhance peace, unity, cohesion and progress among our people. Therefore, we should cooperate with each another and advise should be given to those in government even if you are in the opposition.

“I am delighted you organised this event to give your contribution towards promoting the development of Kano State.

“Even though everyone of us has his own programmes but this 10 years strategic plan report was made by professionals of diverse background therefore I wish to call on all contestants to use it as a platform for guide when elected during governance.”

In attendance during the event were the APC Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate Alh. Murtala Sule Garo and other candidates from other various political parties.

Hon. Ibrahim Tafashiya, the PDP candidate for Kankia Zone in the State House of Assembly for the elections in 2023, has been rescued by police in Katsina State.

According to reports, terrorists kidnapped the lawmaker on Saturday.

The police command’s spokesman, Gambo Isah, stated that the command acted as soon as it received the distress call and intervened quickly.

He added that the PDP candidate was saved by the Kankia Divisional Police Officer, SP Ilyasu Ibrahim, who led the cops under his authority to approach the thugs and engaged them in a bloody gun duel.

In the same vein, the Katsina Police Command reported that it also freed Salisu Gide, the Isa Kaita College of Education’s Registrar, who had been kidnapped along with his wife.

However, “Unfortunately, the police team was unable to rescue his wife from the assailants,” he lamented. But still, the command is still doing its best to secure the nation and free all those in captivity.

Boko Haram insurgents have stormed a mosque in Borno and killed the Chief Imam of Gima alongside three other worshippers.

The attack occured in the wee hours of Friday where the bandits opened the fire on worshippers who had just finished their fajr prayer.

The terrorists who launched the attack at Ngulde community of Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State where they set ablaze vehicles and looted foodstuffs.

Hon. Bilyaminu Umar, the Councilor representing Ngulde Ward, disclosed the story of the attack in a statement Sunday.

Umar said, “I, Hon Bilyaminu Umar, Councilor representing Ngulde ward in Askira-Uba local government, wish to sincerely extend my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to my entire constituents over the recent heinous attack by Boko Haram insurgents, which occurred on 2nd September 2022.

“Ngulde ward is one of the strongest communities in Askira-Uba local government that gave me the mandate in the last local government election to represent them, since then, I have been enjoying their solidarity and support.

“Hence, I felt deeply shocked in sharing the grief of this latest attack, when most of my people were busy tapping from this year’s farming season.

“The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, September 2, 2022, after fajir prayers, claimed four (4) lives and left many with casualties, while properties and businesses worth millions of naira were also destroyed and carted away by the insurgents.”

“Already, I have informed the Deputy speaker Borno State House of Assembly Rt Hon, Engr Abdullahi Askira, on the unfortunate attack. He promised to convey it to the Executive Governor professor Babagana Umara Zulum for necessary action.”

The Borno State Deputy Speaker, who is also representing Askira-Uba constituency, Abdullahi Askira, confirmed the incident, adding the insurgents numbered to about 20 people.
