Military accused of misusing defence funds for shopping malls, hotels – Shehu Sani

By Abdullahi Mukhtar Algasgaini

Former Senator Shehu Sani has criticized Nigeria’s military for allegedly diverting defence funds into non-essential projects like shopping malls, hotels, and universities instead of combat operations.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today Sani argued that such misuse weakens Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and banditry.

He stressed that defence budgets should strictly support troops on the battlefield, not commercial ventures.

“Money meant for the military should not build plazas or hotels for military associations and wives,” Sani said.

“It should go to those risking their lives against terrorists.”

He expressed concern over security agencies investing in markets and universities while frontline soldiers face shortages.

Sani urged the government to prioritize battlefield needs over luxury projects, warning that misallocated funds undermine national security.

“We’ve talked enough about insecurity—now we need action,” he said. “You can’t defeat terrorism overnight, but misusing resources makes it harder.”

Tribute to Dr Idris Abdul-Aziz Dutsen Tanshi

By Senator Shehu Sani

We live in a society where men of conscience and honour are better understood and appreciated when they are long gone or lost. Dr Idris Abdul-Aziz Dutsen Tanshi was a restless soul who spoke the inconvenient truth and walked alone in his paths and trenches. He cast the light of knowledge on the grey and dark spaces of our political and spiritual clime.

Dr Idris was a courageous man who lived an accomplished life of service to the human spirit. His voice was discomforting to the powers and the establishment. He audaciously spared no one in his sermons for equity and justice.

He was a one-man battalion and an exceptional commander of the faithful. His words were as sharp as a blade, piercing like a spear. He challenged a society complacent with injustice, keeping the leaders alert and his fellow Imams on their toes.

He was a man whose spirit was strengthened by his incarceration. He remained unbowed in the face of persecution. He could thank those who came to identify with him during his moments of trial, but he warned them against pleading for his freedom. He raised the torch and became the compass for objection and resistance. He was a non-conformist in the pursuit of the truth enshrined in his faith.

He was a dogged and distinguished spiritual combatant who used the powers of religious knowledge to question and challenge authority. He fought chains of battles within and without the realm of his mission and never surrendered. In life,he was largely misunderstood, and in death, he is well appreciated.

Dr Idris bowed out with dignity and grace. The nation has lost an irrepressible soul and indomitable spirit.

May his soul rest in Aljanna Firdausi, amin.

Danbilki’s molestation video amateurish skit designed for sympathy—Shehu Sani

By Uzair Adam Imam

A former Kaduna State lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has claimed that the viral video showing a prominent Kano political commentator being molested for criticizing Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sano, was nothing more than a planned movie designed to attract public concern.

He described the viral video as “rubbish skit” that was amateurishly planned and directed for calumnious purposes and therefore should be discarded.

The senator lambasted the alleged planned video on his verified X timeline, as reported by The Daily Reality on Friday.

It was reported that Danbilki found himself a victim at the hands of unidentified men who whipped him severely for allegedly criticizing the governor, as shown in the video that went viral on social media platforms.

The Daily Reality reports that the video has generated significant concern among people on social media, with many, despite political rivalry, sympathizing with the whipped Danbilki.

However, despite the molestation, Shehu Sani perceived the viral video as a plan to generate sympathy from people.

He wrote, “The viral video going around that depicted a prominent Kano-based political commentator being physically molested for criticizing the Kaduna State governor appeared to be nothing but a rubbish skit.

“The movie is amateurish and intended for calumnious purposes. It should be ignored,” Shehu Sani added.

El-Rufai: Kaduna is like a raped woman, and the rapist wants honour—Shehu Sani

By Abdullahi Mukhtar Algasgaini

Comrade Shehu Sani, on his X (Twitter) account, said no amount of falsehood and disinformation would change the facts and figures that from 2015–2023, Kaduna State was looted, and our children and grandchildren have been left with a huge burden of debt.

He was quoted as saying, “They shamelessly left behind a litany of uncomplicated projects and contractual liabilities that has suffocated the economy of our state.

“They pocketed billions for non existent light rail projects, tied our IGR to fraudulent Bank loans.

“Kaduna is like a woman raped and the rapist wants honour. Every reasonable resident of Kaduna can clearly see and attest to the properties and wealth amassed by those who claimed to have served the state.

“The spirit and the blood of the people they wasted and the lives and livelihoods they destroyed will continue to haunt them. We shall recover every penny of our state funds looted by those rodents and their larcenous head.
