Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday celebrated the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, highlighting its achievements and unveiling a special fare reduction.

According to the governor, the Blue Line has carried more than five million passengers safely in the past two years, without recording a single accident. He noted that trains now operate every 10 minutes, completing over 90 trips daily and easing travel across the state.

To mark the milestone, Sanwo-Olu announced a 50 per cent cut in fares on the Blue Line for Thursday, September 4, 2025, encouraging Lagosians who have not yet experienced the service to do so.

He expressed gratitude for the support and trust of residents, stressing that the success of the project reflects collective belief in “a greater Lagos.”

“Our journey is far from over,” the governor said. “Step by step, we are creating the Lagos we all desire—safer, faster, and easier to move around.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, affirmed that Nigerians are going through a serious difficulties, but assured that the situation will soon change for the better.

While Tinubu insisted that his administration was on the right track, he also noted that solutions to these problems cannot be an instant one.

On his part, Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described the current administration as tough men working to get Nigerians through the prevailing difficulties.

Represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Tinubu, and the Lagos governor spoke at the 70th birthday of the Overseer of Citadel Global Community, Pastor Tunde Bakare in Lagos.

Akume said: “The president is aware of the hard times, but at the end of it all, there is always light. And solutions to diverse issues can never be as instant as coffee, but we are on the right track.”

The president also described Pastor Bakare as a spiritual leader and advocate for truth who had left an indelible mark, not just on those who follow his teachings, but on the nation as a whole.

“I am aware of your relentless passion for better Nigeria, a country where equal justice and good government prevails. This celebration is a testimony to a life of strength and courage, of powerful messages and fearless advocacy, deep volumes of your dedication to lifting humanity.

On another development, Sanwo-Olu said those in public office needs the public’s prayers, saying “It’s a hard times, but you see, we are also tough men, and we know that at the end of the tunnel, there will be a bright phase.”

A young man identified as Emmanuel has dragged the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanw-Olu, to court over claims that the governor is his father and has refused to acknowledge paternity.

Emmanuel’s lawyer, John Aikpokpo-Martins, revealed this in a Facebook post on Tuesday. 

According to Aikpokpo-Martins, his client had approached the Delta State High Court claiming that the governor is his biological father. He noted that his client requested the governor to waive his constitutional immunity to undergo a DNA test to confirm the claim. 

He further stated that the governor had filed court processes refusing to waive his immunity and undergo a DNA test. As a result, the court has adjourned the case to January 17, 2023, to hear the objection of the governor. 

In the court processes seen by the Daily Reality, Emmanuel sought the following orders : 

“A declaration that the Defendant is the biological father of the claimant begotten from Madam Grace Moses of Oleri, Delta State.

“An order directing and compelling the Defendant to acknowledge and accord the claimant all the rights of a son in accordance with all the laws applicable whether customarily, statutorily or constitutionally.

“An order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further denying the parenthood of the claimant”
