A 21-year-old man, Chukwudi, has reportedly killed his two parents for refusing to give him some money in Nnewi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Chukwudi, who is an undergraduate student of one university in Anambra State, is the only son to his parents.

The victims were identified as Mr. and Mrs Micheal Ulor. However, there corpses had started decomposing when they were discovered on Thursday.

Chukwudi killed his parents at their residence at Mr. Moses Nnodu’s compound, Abubor Nnewichi-Nnewi, close to Orie Agbo Market.

It was gathered that Chukwudi fled to unknown destination since he killed his two parents.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirm the incident to journalists.

Tochukwu said all efforts to trace the suspect’s whereabouts were on top gear.

The Kaduna State Government on Friday, 23rd September, 2022 apologized for the hardship being faced by motorists and passengers due to construction works of the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway by Julius Berger.

The Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, conveyed this in a statement made available to The Daily Reality (TDR) in Kaduna.

According to him, “Citizens plying the route over the last few days have experienced severe hardship and discomfort due to the gridlock, which is deeply regretted.”

“The Kaduna State Government is in discussions with Julius Berger PLC, and other relevant agencies, over ensuring that obstructions are promptly cleared and the gridlock is eased for normal movement of traffic as soon as possible,” he said.

Commuters on the ever-busy Kaduna-Abuja Expressway fumed on Friday as they wasted hours in the gridlock occasioned by the repair works on the road. They called on government to review the pace at which Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is executing the construction works on the expressway. The commuters, who are mostly public and private sector workers, and businessmen, berated the company as they spent over forty eight hours trying to manoeuvre the gridlock.

At least 20 surrendered Boko Haram fighters have died as a result of cholera outbreak that stormed Borno State.

A source told journalists in Borno that health workers with the support of Non-Governmental Organisations and the World Health Organisation are trying to control the fatalities.

He said, “At least 20 Boko Haram surrenders have died as a result of cholera outbreak in Hajj and four others died in Bama camp. 

“Also, three reportedly died in the Muna Garage IDP camp. Nearly 1,000 cases have been reported so far, and hundreds are currently receiving treatments in various health centres,” he added.

However, in what appeared to have contradicted the earlier statement, a top ministry of health staff, said the figures were incorrect.

The staff who pleaded for anonymity told journalists that only 11 repentant Boko Haram insurgents and three others in the Muna Garage IDP camp were killed by cholera, not 20 people.

He stated that, “the ministry and its partners are on top of the situation.”

The Daily Reality gathered there are about 12,000 Boko Haram fighters that have laid down their arms and surrendered to the troops of the Nigerian Army in Borno State.

Governor Yahya Bello of Kogi State has cautioned Nigerian students to desist from their planned national protest for security reasons.

The governor has cautioned the students while speaking on Arise TV on Wednesday, adding that the students should learn from the outcome of the EndSARS protest and not take to the streets.

The Daily Reality reported that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) had protested against the lingering strike at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The aggrieved students had threatened to shut down the airport if the conflict between the Federal Government and ASUU has not been resolved.

He said, “Let me admonish the NANS and the younger generation just like I did during #EndSARS when it was just starting then, please don’t take the law into your own hands.

“Our candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is deeply concerned, and even Mr President. We are all concerned about this lingering crisis. What this administration failed to do is to remove the political aspect of ASUU and other associated problems from the academics and that is why we are facing what we are facing today.

“Now, don’t take the law into your own hands. With EndSARS, we knew exactly what happened. If you take to the streets, there are hoodlums out there who are ready or who have been sponsored to hijack the protest from you.”

Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, has rescheduled several flights as students stormed the airport to protest against the incessant strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The angry students threatened to shut down the airport if the conflict between the Federal Government and ASUU had not been resolved.

Our reporters gathered that the students were members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and had blocked the international airport as early as 07:00 am.

The decision of the protesting students was said to have caused gridlock on both ends of the airport, thereby leaving several passengers stranded.

However, they later moved to a domestic airport, causing traffic jams in the airport and Mobolaji Bank Anthony road leading to the local airport.

the protesting students were joined by a former Students Union Government President of the University of Lagos and Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore.

Many students have blamed both the federal government and ASUU over the ongoing dispute, which they said has ruined the dream of many promising Nigerian students.

ASUU has been on strike since February 14, 2022, making it over seven months now. However, the federal government has reportedly dragged the union before the court to end its strike that lingers.

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo has updated the country on the security situation in Anambra State.

Soludo who spoke on Channels Television on Sunday said the security situation in the state has improved in the last three months. He disclosed that the criminals tormenting the state are being identified and arrested .

“No space in Anambra will accommodate these criminals. Of course, they are known criminals. They come from homes, have parents, relatives and have people from the villages and so on. But thank goodness, people are now coming forward with information about their identities.

“And that’s how we have been picking them. We are pursuing them vigorously. We have this lead whether this was an orchestrated or pinpoint attack and all kinds of theories as to why this happened.

“I can bet you, it won’t be too long before we get them. We are not relenting one minute.” Soludo stated

The unknown gunmen are reputed for maiming, killing civilians and attacking government offices.

The Spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Nigerians have no right to retaliate when assaulted by men of the Nigerian Police Force.

He stated this on Twitter on Saturday Adejobi tweeted in response to a viral video of two young men dragging a riffle with two policemen in uniform.

In the video, the two young men whose phones were seized reportedly by the policemen were seen haranguing the officers for the release of their phones.

Adejobi said doing that is against the extant laws of the land and that such actions are disrespectful to the country.

“Even if a policeman on uniform slaps a civilian, the civilian has no right to retaliate more so if he is on uniform, its an act of disrespect to Nigeria, to beat an officer on uniform, the disrespect is not to the policeman but to our nation and its a crime as enshrined in our criminal laws.

“So its not a case of what the policeman did, that led to it, but the reaction of the civilians who actually assaulted the police. If police assault a civilian, you report and actions will be taken to rebuke him, not to take the law into your hands.” He tweeted

It was a very horrible incident how a Chinese man unjustly killed Ummakulsum in Kano State on Friday, September 16, 2022. No one could understand the real motives about how the young lady died so young in the hands of the evil man who was alleged to be her lover.

In Nigeria, the lives of ordinary citizens are becoming so easily taken and only become viral on social media without pursuing the incident to a logical conclusion. Indeed, it’s a duty upon the authorities to unravel the circumstances in which criminal activities are occasionally occurring in our country. Perhaps, we take it for granted that a foreigner could be allowed to perpetrate this criminal act in our midst. Even though every immoral act stands condemned no matter who’s involved.

Ummi or Ummita, as she’s popularly known, wasn’t the only case that happened in the community. Most young girls find fun in associating with people of different colours and unknown backgrounds. We must be concerned and warn our sisters to be cautious of who they associate with, and the community should, of course, be wary of people of questionable character approaching our sisters.

Sadly, the search for  exuberant life exposes women and girls to rapists and urchins who hide behind the cover of white skin to harm and spoil, thereby causing untold psychological, mental, health and physical trauma to young ladies in the country. Even though this happened in a most horrible way, but it shouldn’t be left to fade and wane, we must take precautions. In most cities, for example, we see young girls hiding behind as secretaries or even direct lovers to these white men, resulting in disasters and the destruction of their lives.

In general, what you can’t take away from us is that our inbuilt traits are not dead in us. It is true we love foreigners, mostly white men, for the simple fact that we feel they are more distant from us and we crave to make them feel at home, make them feel more comfortable in Nigeria, but that should not be taken for granted to take advantage of our kindness and inflict untold hardship on us. The gruesome murder of Ummita is highly unfortunate and indeed unacceptable.

However, security agencies must ensure the Chinese man is punished according to the law of the land to serve as a deterrent to others with similar bad intentions.

The Anambra State Police Command disclosed that its personnel has arrested one Chisom Nwedeke, 26, accused of using charms to defraud POS operators in the state.

The Command Spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement issued on Thursday said the suspect has confessed the crime.

He stated that Nwedeke was arrested yesterday at about 9am along Amawabia, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspect said he used to cut plain white papers in the size of money and gave them to POS operators for deposit.

Tochukwu told Journalists that investigations were on top gear to arrest his other gang members.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, today Thursday, has said that the family of Kaduna-Abuja train victims should be at ease as the arrest of Tukur Mamu will not halt the efforts to rescue those in captivity.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Maigari Dingiyadi, disclosed this in Abuja after the NSC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chambers.

The Daily Reality reported how more than 60 passengers were abducted when terrorists attacked the train conveying them from Abuja to Kaduna. However, today marks exactly 186 days after their abduction and 23 of the victims are still in captivity while others, on the hand, who regained their freedom, were said to have allegedly paid N100 million as ransom.

The Daily Reality also reported that the bandits negotiator was first arrested in Egypt on the orders of the federal government of Nigeria on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

He was later brought back to Nigeria where he was, again, arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Our reporters learned that the train victims have not communicated with their families since Mamu’s arrest.
