The Federal Government of Nigeria has opened applications for a six-month professional teaching qualification programme for non-professional teachers in the country.
According to the Federal Ministry of Education, the programme, titled Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway (ATPP), costs ₦200,000, which can be paid in three instalments.
The ATPP offers two qualification routes: the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) for holders of non-education bachelor’s degrees or HNDs, and the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) for holders of ONDs or NDs.
However, only individuals with at least two years of classroom teaching experience are eligible.
Launched on September 7, 2026, the application portal will remain open until September 25. The application is free.
