A Russian strike hit the National Academy of Sciences building in central Kyiv on Sept. 28, triggering a fire and a major emergency response, Ukrainian authorities said.
One woman was killed and three people were injured in the attack, according to Kyiv officials. Emergency crews continued rescue and firefighting operations at the site.
Russian strikes also targeted other locations in Kyiv, including a medical facility and other civilian infrastructure, officials said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks and said Russia must face stronger international pressure and consequences. He called on Europe, the United States and other partners to strengthen support for Ukraine and help protect civilian lives.
